In a surprise announcement, Costa Rica has removed the requirement for a negative RT-PCR test result within 72 hours of arrival. Both foreigners and Costa Ricans entering the country by air no longer need to have a recent negative test result.
The President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, announced changes to the weekend driving restrictions beginning this coming Saturday.
Last week the government brought forward a proposal it will present to the International Monetary Fund in order to secure a loan for 1.75 billion. The loan is deemed necessary to keep the country running and be able to pay ongoing commitments.
This year poverty in Costa Rica increased to 26.2%, the highest in 28 years, with over 420,000 households who do not meet their basic needs.
Costa Rica Immigration Offices will remain closed until December 1st, 2020.
